After completing his degree he accepted a position as financial manager at the milling division of TWK Agriculture Limited, where he was responsible for implementing and monitoring internal controls as well as maintaining their financial records and management accounts. In 1998 he got retrenched on a last in first out basis due to the poor performance of the division. To this day 90% of the controls implemented are still maintained by the company.

The retrenchment caused Roelf to asses his future and he decided to go into business. The business focused on repairing and rebuilding mainly forklifts, but also other industrial machinery like graders, front end loaders and industrial compressors. During his time as co owner of the business he gained valuable experience in managing a business and managing cash flows with limited resources. The experience gained here can not be teached, it needs to be experienced.

By the start of the new millennium Roelf decided to pursue his career in accounting and accepted a position as article clerk at W.K.H.Landgrebe & Co. He advanced quickly and was appointed as audit senior a year later. His responsibilities included all aspects of the audit tax and accounting field. He also gained valuable experience in business valuations, mergers and acquisitions as well as negotiations.

Roelf completed his articles in April 2004 and immediately wrote his exam to be allowed as a practicing accountant registered with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA)

Due to his entrepreneurial spirit he started his own practice in June 2004 and has grown this practice to currently serve 200 businesses and 250 individuals.

Roelf got recognized by his peers for his leadership abilities and got elected as regional committee member of the Johannesburg region of SAIPA. At the August 2007 meeting he got further recognition and got elected as vice Chairperson of the Johannesburg region of SAIPA.
